Looking for factory accuracy here, were the headlight bezels on a '72 SS left in chrome, or were they painted black in the area surrounding the lens? I've seen cars both ways, and want to be accurate. If the answer is "YES", can someone recommend a paint manufacturer & part #? Thanks guys! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Gregg,
I'm in the same boat as you. I love the look of the blacked out bezels, but mine are chrome. I'm definately not the original owner of the car so I don't have first hand knowledge.
Does anyone out there know?

I have a 72 SS that I bought from the original owner. On my car they were painted black. Though I am unsure if semi-gloss, eggshell ect.. I have not looked into the correct color yet because I am not at that stage of the restoration. If you want I can take a picture and send to you.

I am almost certain that the "correct" headlight and turn signal bezels should be blacked out on all 72 SS cars. I have NOS bezels that are blacked out for my 72 SS project. It appears that they are semi-gloss about the same 60% gloss as the undercarriage.

Are the '71 bezels also blacked out?

Just bought an all original 72 and the bezels are blacked out.
71 bezels are not black. All chrome.
