Hello, My assembly manual has all the specs for sheet metal checking except the bottom of door to rocker, and back of door to quarter panel gap. If anyone happens to have these could you throw them my way. This is for a 71 chevelle, but I am sure 70-72 specs will be fine. Thanks steve

I use some 3M 3" X 5" rubber squeegees for checking gaps, it is 3/16" thick and just about perfect for all the older cars. You can place one near each corner of the hood along the sides and move your core support around a bit if needed for perfect parallel gaps to the fenders and front panel if equipped. Same goes for the decklid. I usually start with the door having a couple taped to the rocker panel and use two at the rear edge of the door where it meets the quarter. The door may need to be up or down some from the 3/16 dimension at the rocker but this usually gets me close right away. 3/16" is the magic number when it comes to panel alignment IMO.

Thank you very much, I know the body lines will pretty much line it up but a am installing a new rocker, (Pain in the you know what!!) and with the door on I need to get the bottom to rocker clearance correct before I take the mig welder to it. I will go with the 3/16ths rule as you stated.
Thanks for the help... Steve
