i have a 68 ss and I cannot decide on a color to paint it!! I love black but I also would love a dark maroon with or w/o black stripes going down in the front and back of the car. How would that look on a 68? I need help!!!!

Often the color that looks good on a car has not as much to do with the color as it does with the attitude of the car.
For example, silver on a raised car gives the impression of light weight, where dark colors on a stock or lowered car gives the appearance of greater weight.

Other times, the intended use of the vehicle in the owner's mind can have a big impact upon how various colors are "seen". A conservative color works well on an air-conditioned cross-country bullet, and more aggressive colors such as high impact solids or very saturated metallics work well on a street/strip car (what was known in WW2 aircraft circles as a "point defense fighter", like the Supermarine Spitfire, never intended for long range missions).
This may seem like overboard analysis, but the points are valid in the psychology of colors. Oustide of functional and empirical choices such as working camouflage, the choice of color is almost always emotional. To help determine a final choice, it is very helpful to take a hard look not only at the car and its shape, but your own inner understanding of the relationship between car and driver in your particular situation.
Basically, your choice in color will have less to do with what looks good to others than it will have to do with your own desire for the outward expressing of your thoughts, the ones in which you show the world what makes you unique.

Ok, I know, too much talking. Probably didn't help much. Sorry.

I love the dark maroon w/ black stripes look. Thats why I chose it for my car. I like the dark looks but black is a little too common for my tastes because I like to be the only car I see with the same color paint job. here is a pic.
