Are these 69SS reproduction hoods as good as the oringals? I was having mine stripped today and found out it was rusted though on the support frame.69SS 396/325 Monaco Orange

I got a Goodmark and it fit as well as an original Gm hood, I couldnt be happier with it. It is identical even on the underside, the sheet metal was .003 thinner than a Gm hood, hope this helps. All the used hoods I came across had rusting on the front edge.

I believe I have an extra ss hood. I live north of Atlanta and also have a monaco Orange 69, Nov99 feature car here at TC. Contact me and I will check on it. It is also good to hear from a local chevelle guy.

I got the hood at a vendor at a swap meet in Canfield, OH. It was a 'show' special. I paid $179.99 for it. I don't think you can get it for that price anymore, but it was a Goodmark. The name of the vendor was Leuty's Chevrolet and I know they are in Pennsylvania. I don't know their phone no. He goes to all of the swap meets in the Northeast US. Maybe somebody knows his number and you can meet up with him.

Thanks Jovelle, I found Goodmark Industries on the net and they list NPD Michigan as a distributor of their goods. I am now getting in touch with them. R.B.

I bought a brand new Goodmark hood last year.
I was a little dissapointed, there were two creases at the front most likely shipping dammage. I fixed those with no mud, but the worst was when I was sanding I found two oil canning spots on the passenger side above the hinge mount. I fixed those too, but chased them around for days. it also had a few high spots around the seams from spot welds. I do body work and have lots of time so it wasn't worth getting all pissed about, and I have rarely seen a "new" part arrive at the body shop without some type of defect. I'm not taking shots at goodmark the rest of it was great, nice and clean on the underside which is usualy time consuming to sand and prep a used one. it's all wet sanded and smooth as silk now, looks great, just my experience, hope it helps. mike

We are wondering how everyone feels about the Goodmark Hoods as of this week.

We need a '69 SS Hood for our Elke. Any good/bad scenarios?

We noticed that some of you have been positive, some say OK.

What other suppliers have you had good luck with?

Any info helpful.

While we're on the subject, what about the cowl hoods for the 70 - 72 models? Anyone have any experiences with Goodmarks they can share here? I plan to order one in the spring. I should have said good experiences, remember, no supplier bashing. Email me with the negative comments. Keep the bad stuff off this site.

I picked up a 70-72 CI hood from Goodmark this year. Email Doug Garland and ask him about them. DZAUTO also did a comparision to an orignal hood on a 70.

All I can say is that it's pretty close in weight to GM, and would take a whole lot less work than the GM hood I have.

I have Epoxy primered it but have not bolted it on so no info on fit.

We noticed that Ground Up Restorations offers a 10% discount to our members. Since we are looking for a 1969 SS Hood, that may be the way to go.

However, does anyone know if their hoods are Goodmark? If not, what brand might they be?

Some insight as to anyone purchasing a hood from Ground Up might be more helpful.

Not trying to take anything away from the various venders, but have you thought about going to the Goodmark website and try and find a local authorised dealer. They may save you a freight charge.

Who makes repro hoods besides Goodmark?

WE went to the Goodmark site and guess what=No Vendor In Nevada. We would have to travel to Utah or Arizona or Calif. At the $$$price of gas, we would be better off paying the shipping.

Randy, I bought a repro 70-72 hood from True Connections in Riverside, CA when I had a 72 Chevelle. I didn't have a problem with it but it wasn't the same thickness compared to the original hood.

LVMAXX - Pay for the gas and drive to the nearest UT, AZ or CA Goodmark distributor and save yourselves the headaches of having a damaged hood shipped to you. Hood could get damaged very easily during shipment. Besides, you might enjoy the ride and bring back a "cherry" hood. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif
