I've only done this once and it was over twenty years ago. How do you adjust the tension on the trunk lid? There's got to be a trick to it! It looks like if you move them to the most rearward position, it will increase the tension, holding the lid open with more force. Is that correct? How do you move the rod? That sucker is in there tight!

JImmy you are right moving the rods will affect the lid's tension. I believe you are right the most rearward slot will hold the lid open with more force. But remember its a two way street. If it opens hard then it will close easy, if it closes hard then it open easy.

You can move either side to adjust the tension. Say you move both sides all the way back but now its too hard, just move one side back up a slot.

To adjust them I made a tool that looks like a pickle fork used to remove ball joints. Just place underneath and lift up...Eric

Thanks. My trunk lid dosn't want to stay open. So, you're saying I want to move the rods to the most forward position? So it will open easy, but close 'hard'?

Jimmy, I can never remember which way it is for sure but something is telling me that in order for it too "open easy close hard" which will give you that higher tension too keep the lid open, you want the rods in the rearward slot closest to the rear bumper.
But dont quote me on the slots but am kinda somewhat sure its the rearward slot that affects the tension the way you need it.

The pickle fork tool makes this adjustment easy
