How does everyone feel about using like naval jelly on rust. I really dont like it but im trying to redo the front post on my chevelle and thought about doing this followed by a etching solution then primer and duraglass. Would this keep the rust away.

thanks

This is the post for the windshield, correct? I think most people have ruled out chemical conversions and naval jelly. The best thing to do is go at it with a die grinder and gold scotch brite disc, or with a small body grinder. Don't stop until you see bare shiny metal, but, be careful not to grind all the way through, that is, if the rust isn't all the way through. If it is, then you'll have cut it out and weld in new metal.

Por makes a putty for building the surface back up. It's a two part epoxy putty that sets up hard but is still easy to sand. They usually treating the area with silver Por 15 and then applying the putty. After it's been treated, you can work the area smooth with the body filler of your choice.
