I have a question on the body mounts for my ragtop, when I lifted my body,I was expecting to find body mount bolts in the frt floor brace as opposed to just bushings. I checked my assy manual,it shows bolts, but mine has the bushings the hdtp gm p/n still legible. To my knowledge its never been off the frame before, but I've only had it 18 yrs. Also, the cage nuts are in the floor brace for the bolts, did they all come with the nuts welded in? http://community.webshots.com/scripts/editPhotos.fcgi?action=showMyPhoto&albumID=193869235&photoID=312058524&security=wgIatE

you are talking about the front floor brace and not the cowl area right? They should have the bolts. If you are in the cowl area, I have heard of people removing these front bolts in order to jack up the front of the body a bit in order to remove engine/trans combo. also you have to remember all the cars were assembled by human hands and the guy on the assy. line could have had a bad day and said screw and left out bolts in that area on every car he bolted down that day. they do need them though.

When I bought my replacement bushings there were two solid ones that the directions said were specifically for convertibles (i think right around the front door jambs). I'll go look again today to see if I still have the directions...

Yes,the ones on the frt floor brace are the ones. I thought they should have them, but just wanted to be sure. Sapperox,I think the verts have the solid bushings in the very frt mount (firewall) next to the bolted mount, and also bushings in the rear somewhere near the coil springs I believe.

Speaking of the frt firewall mounts, why are the velles the only ones with only 1 bolted mount? I was in the junkyard yesterday trying to find a replacement, all the bop a-bodies are different, they have 2 bolted mounts per side
