Hi guys. I just pulled the rocker mouldings off my 70 and found that the moulding clips clips that hold them on were attached with small screws ito the rocker panels, but.... I also found 5 holes punched in the rockers as well. These holes are about 1/4" and are evenly spaced down the rocker panels ( both sides) So my question is: were these holes originally used to attach the rocker mouldings clips and if so, were there filler plugs in them that the screws went into? Thanks Randy

What rocker panel modelings? Do you mean the sill plates in the door frame?

No the 3" polished trim mouldings that go below the doors on the rocker panels. They normally weren't seen on SS cars but were part of the Malibu trim package.

oh sorry, didn't get the malibu piece .. I know the SS didn't have the molding. Are you working on a clone? If so, why use them?

Well Birddog I was planning to remove them amd fil the screww holes, but then I found these much larger holes and got curious. The factroy must have used a different clip which needed the larger holes. Maybe even bolted front the back like fender emblems? Anyway my clone will have to keep its mouldings. Probably just as well since I'm not out to fool anyone I just like the SS look. Thanks Randy

All my 70 had was the rocker molding clips, no extra holes.
