I have a gap between the fiberglass scoop and my hood. What do I do to close it? Can I use sheet metal screws to hold it down until the adhesive dries? Will that put stress on the scoop and eventually crack it? http://www.ewedding.com/images/customer/6294/1x104594.jpg http://www.ewedding.com/images/customer/6294/1x104595.jpg http://www.ewedding.com/images/customer/6294/1x104596.jpg

You need to recontour the scoop untill it fits the hood. I've spent 16+ hours installing these. How thick is the flange on that thing? Grind and glass till she fits well before bonding it on.

I did a Harwood on a 62 impala hood. I made a template out of butcher paper. that set OVER the Cowl hood scoop and lay around the bottom radius.. with a 3/8 in flange around the front and both sides...I then lay-ed it on the hood and marked it with a Felt pen. Cut out the hood opening then flipped over the hood.
I then cut the under hood brace out the full dim of the Harwood Scoop.
I used 3 -m two part panel adhesive ground and pre cleaned the bottom of the hood. and with my air punch , Punched a 3/16 in hole around the three sides of the hood.. Applied Glue. inserted scoop from underneath... used the holes to drive in a some SS screws through the hood into the scoop.. I let this set up and dry... Ground the heads off the screws and the protruding bottom threads... I now has just a small fill project to couture in..
I also in hind site.. took the rear of what i cut out and fit it into the back of the scoop for a inches... and used fiber glass cloth and resin to give the rear opening a finished Look...
Harrwoods home page should have some info on this..

what i do is cut off the flange, lay it on the hood and mark it all around, then cut out the hood-i then drop the scoop thru the hole, fab up some little stops to hold it even all around, mark the scoop from the underside, cut it on the mark(this gives it the right contour) i cut strips of fiberglass cloth, overlap from the underside the scoop and hood, then i fill in the topside, once your done it looks like factory
