Whenever I reboot the computer a "NetworkConnections" window opens. It says " You (or a program) have requested information from your-k71u5e0gcl. Which connection do you want to use? " Then it lists my dialup connections. This has happened ever since I went to DSL.

Searched the computer & found k71u5e0gcl in a file Named "COMPAQ" and location was C:/WINDOWS Clicked on it & I get a popup window: "Are you sure you want to add the information in C:/WINDOWS/COMPAQ.reg to the registry?

Any idea what this is? Can I delete the file? Thanx.

Are you still using the dialup connections? If not, I would first delete the dialup connection (s) on the computer. That way, the system only has the DSL connection to deal with and might quit asking which connection you want to use. Sometimes things like this can confuse the computer depending how it was configured. Since it is listed under Compaq, that says that maybe Compaq set things up in their own non-standard way and it is the root of your problem.

Getting rid of the dialup connections is the place to start. You can add them back later. I keep the dialup connections on my computer so if the DSL goes down (which occassionally happens) I can still get online.

Thanx for the suggestion. I've been keeping the dialup active just in case, but its easy enough to reinstall. Will try deleting the dial up connections.
