I'm looking at raising the rear of my 69 Malibu a bit. I recently put on some P245R14s on the rear using Centerline rim knockoffs (Pro Wheel? Any one of heard of those?) I have no choice regarding the backspacing as these are what I've got (In fact I don;t even know the backspacing dimensions. When placing weight on rear, wheel lip tends to rest on the tire sidewalls. Car w/o wieght, wheel lip does not touch the sidewall. Since the springs are 36 years old, I suspect there is spring sag and differs from the stocck height. Suggestions needed in order to raise the car up a bit, not too high that it looks like a stink bug) to get a better than stock looking rear height. I've already talked with a spring manufacturer, and he said 2" over stock would be too high. What do you think?

I raised my -69 a couple of weeks ago by using the cheap rubber blocks you buy at the parts stores. I used them because you can change the height by just moving them back and forth in the spring, until it looks right. Right now, I have two in each spring, spaced at 1/4 turn apart, and it raised the car about 1".

Don't think it's a long term solution, not sure if it will hurt the springs or not. I'm going to get air bags but I'll probably keep the blocks for a while.

I agree with Robert on the Air bags, they can raise it quite a bit. An different option would be to go to your your local Autoparts store and get a Heavy duty set of Replacement springs for the rear of the chevelle. OD and the rest are exactly the same, but the dia of the coil is just a hair larger. This is what I did, and it brought up the car about 1.25 inches, and the lip is just above the tire (which is what I wanted). This also stiffens up the rear a bit, and helps with traction off the line.
