I am Considering to buy a Powder coat gun
and paint to do my A arms And other misc. parts on my front end. Harbor Frieght has one on sale now for 69.00, I think i have to cure the powder coating after i spray correct? What would be a good way of doing that? I saw a Infared light gizmo in the eastwood catolog. But it was like 700.00!!!
i am wondering if it would be possible
to just get a few large infared lights like 250w plus, and put them in an appropriate fixture?Would that do the trick or what other alternatives do i have? Any one familiar with this please let me know.
Thanks Edgar S

An old oven will work.it must be cured at 400 for 20 minutes or so.I have the Hotcoat system and I'm considering these for bigger stuff.,much cheaper than Eastwood. http://www.northerntool.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=39605&prmenbr=6970 http://www.northerntool.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=234457&prmenbr=6970

I've got an old surplus oven from a junk appliance ($50.) store hooked up in the garage and it works great. A friend has his out in the back yard and just covers it with a tarp. He made an extension cord to go in the window and plug in the clothes drier plug. It'll do stuff bigger than A frames. I think you'll like the oven cooking better than the light for anything that'll fit. With the light system, it's easier to leave some areas not cooked quite as well as others where the oven is very uniform. I've done A frames, spindles, (cast grey) and tons of outboard motor parts.
An additional benefit is being able to parkerize stuff and have it look dead right, such as hood hinges, hood latches and even a few odball pulleys. (smog for instance) I did this on the cooktop with a stainless cook pan (available from any resturant supply for about 30 bucks) and the hood hinges look dead right. The chemicals are readily available and cheap. All this stuff has to be done in a well ventilated area and the oven needs to never have food in it again. Incidentally, that brings up another good use for the oven. I used to cook the exhaust manifolds in one with copper paint and that makes em turn a cast iron color that's more authentic looking than any spray cast stuff available. It to stinks and must be done outside.

You may want to try columbia coatings out of Tennessee. They sell kits that come with quite a few extras to get you started. That's where I got my powder gun and have done some parts with. They have been very helpful with me asking questions to how things are done. www.columbiacoatings.com (http://www.columbiacoatings.com)
