Am considering making one that bolts on to the transmission mount,(don't want to drill holes in floor)I have a piece of 4in pipe but need to know how wide and how thick the plate steel should be.

Thanks,Rob

Minimum thickness is 1/4 inch, and 2" wide, or .065" x 7/8 steel tubing. And it must be located within 6" of the front universal joint. According to NHRA rules.Good Luck

Rob,

I just welded my to the floor, and it's still there after 30 years.

Above link is for a loop I just purchased from BMR. It's a nice product that attaches/welds to the seat support right behind the trans. A little pricey, but it's a perfect fit if you want to avoid the headaches of making your own. Comes black or red.
