I am at a stand still for getting them the rest of the way in, I have got them most of the way in, by hitting them with a hammer, and a 2x4 between the hammer and the bushing!!!!
any suggestions for help!!!
thanks,

70Z15 Mar 31st, 05, 10:42 PM Your not going ALL the way right? They are not made to be driven all the way in. HERE (http://www.chevelles.com/showroom/70Z15/rearbushing.JPG) is what mine looks like.
71350SS Mar 31st, 05, 10:44 PM A couple of pieces of pipe and some large washers along with some long bolts should pull it the rest of the way in.Make sure you use pieces that fit the bushing and the housing.OR you could buy the right tool,I don't think anyone rents it.
Each bushing has a shoulder that locates the bushing in the housing.Like Tim said they don't go all the flush into the housing ears.
kev69350 Mar 31st, 05, 11:44 PM yeah the bushing has the tapereing on it, it just needs like a 1/4" more to go, it is trying my patience, with it, cause I want to get it in, so I can dive the car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
maybe tomorrow I can try the bolts and washers, ?????????????
thanks guys for the replies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A short piece of pipe and washer on one side that fits over it to pull the bushing in.A piece of pipe or something that fits the metal sleeve on the other side to drive the metal sleeve in.Use a long bolt and nut to press it in the rest of the way.Stay away from the rubber in the center of the bushing pounding on that will ruin the bushing. For one side you can use a sliver about 1/2 inch wide of the old bushing sleeve, the side with the shoulder.Use real large washers or a drilled piece of 1/8 in.plate.
What kind of dive you gonna do with that chevelle, backflip or cannonball?
kev69350 Apr 1st, 05, 12:54 AM I like the cannonball myself, thats pretty good, never caught that,
HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thanks I was looking at it again tonite, and I saw the large washers in Osh, and I can get the bolts too, then I can get busy with the car,,,,,,, not like that either!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
kev69350 Apr 2nd, 05, 1:43 PM alright, the bolt, washer idea worked out great for the one side, but the drivers side, I had to use a 2" galv. nipple, and I just hit the nipple with a piece of wood in the between it, and it went in with no prblem,
thanks again, for the help!!!!!!!!!!!!
