I am removing all the trim on the wifes 1965 impala in preparation for a paint job.
Can any tell me how to remove, what I believe is the same as vinyl top trim, that goes from one side of the car to the other, below the rear window? Is there a special tool? If there is, where can I get it? The car doesnt have a vinyl top it just has this trim that divides the paint colors and I want to get it off so it can be reused. Thanks Jon

I don't know if this will work on your car, but I asked a similar question for the trim on my camaro and was told to use a bottle opener. It worked like a charm! Go slow and it popped right off with no marks or dents. graemlins/clonk.gif graemlins/beers.gif

What kind of bottle opener? The one I have in the kitchen and it has two ends: a pointed end and a square end with rounded corners. Thanks Jon

The kind you would open a beer bottle with. Has two claws at the back which grabs the trim at the bottom and lifts up and the top part sits on the trim and would hold top of trim down. Prying action if you know what I mean. Now I need a beer graemlins/clonk.gif

Same way as front window trim. There is a tool that you slide along under the trim until you catch one of the clips then you pry sideways with the tool and it pulls the clip out to release the trim. It looks like a flat hook. Kindof like using a pri-bar on the clips.
