I've got a TH350 on my 350, and am interested in getting an adjustable vaccum modulator. I have a coupe of friends (twins) and they own a 77 El Camino with stock 305. From what I hear, they say adjusting it out is like putting in a shift kit, getting second gear scratches out of their automatic all day. Is this good for the transmission? They did the same to an 81 El Camino with 305 also. It does the same thing. If it's ok to do, then I'll put one on my Chevelle.

Adjusting the screw raises or lowers the shift RPM through a certian range.
It won't make the trans shift faster thats what a shift kit does.
