: Project Pics
kmchugh Sep 5th, 02, 3:07 PM I just posted some pics of my project in the showroom. Please take a look and let me know what you think. I could only get 5 in there before I ran out of space. Is there a way to decrease some resolution to get more pics in? After I get some feedback, I can post mor pics. I have a about 15 all told. Let me know what you think guys, do I have a good project or a did I waste my hard earned dolares? Thanks, Kevin

dreinecke Sep 5th, 02, 5:07 PM Depends on what you were comfortable spending. My car looked good on the outside, but your floor looks about as bad as mine. Nothing terrible, but lots of surface rust. I cleaned it up, scraped it up, and POR'd it. Turned out great. Take a look at my site and follow the interior link.
Just remember to have fun!

68Elkie Sep 6th, 02, 12:59 AM You need to resize your photos to make them smaller. Simple for most photo editing software. If you can't figure it out, let me know what program you're using.
For example, the windowrust.jpg you stored on the server is 183K. By resizing it to 700 pixels (http://myairplants.com/pics/windorust7.jpg) across it's only 55K, and resized to 500 pixels (http://myairplants.com/pics/windorust5.jpg) it's only 32K. Still big enough to see the detail and almost 6 times as small. (Click on the pixel numbers to see what your resized pictures would look like.)

FO_FDYFO Sep 6th, 02, 8:32 AM if the rust does not go all the way thru, por-15 is good enough. i would not try cutting it out unless there is pin holes or worse.

kmchugh Sep 6th, 02, 10:50 AM Thanks for the replies everyone. I will make the pictures smaller so I can get more pics for you to comment on. The rust absolutely goes all the way through on the floor. I will have to replace the entire floor and trunk too maybe. I am more concerned about the body (of which I didn't post pics because I ran out of room). When I figure out how to make them smaller, I will post more, and create the links in the post. Thanks guys. Kevin

I resized the driver's floor picture which decreased the file size from 180 kb to 34 kb
or
800 X 600 - 53 kb (http://www.chevelles.com/showroom/Dean/dfloor.jpg)
what do you think ?

kmchugh Sep 9th, 02, 12:54 PM Thanks for all help guys. Dean, how did you resize the pics? I couldn't figure out how to in place, so I e-mailed them again, and they automatically resized. I have posted them to the showromm. Here are the links. I paid just over $2K for the car. Money well spent if my project is repairable. I realize I am going to invest considerable $$. I budgeted $20K for the project. I've $2K into the car, and $6K into the engine. That leaves $12K for the body, interior, chassis, suspension and drivetrain. What do you all think? TIA, Kevin
I deleted the links in this post. I will try again in another reply to this post. Dean, I didn't see any problem with the syntax, will you check to see if there is an address problem if I can't get the linkd to work? Thanks, Kevin

Your links aren't working.... I looked at the pics anyway from the directory, and I have to give you credit. At least you had the B*LLS enough to post what you paid for the car. IMHO, over 2K is kinda steep for a car that doesnt run or drive and is in such a stage of dissassembly, BUT- it looks like an alright project. IT has typical "Chevy" rust, especially on the floors and the rear window. It does have kind of strange areas of rust in the interior other than the floors, though. How is the trunk? Is there any rust in there?
BUT HEY- it could be MUCH MUCH WORSE for a 30+ yr old car. Just be forewarned- that ugly red paint may have been misted on for a reason, so dont be shocked if you find "surprises" lurking underneath it. IMHO, its a decent project, and if you do a lot of the work yourself, you'll be able to pull it off for around what your budget allows! Good Luck!

Try those out, kmchugh. Notice that they are JPG in your directory, and you are linking them as jpg. Try JPG and they will work.

Yep- they work OK now http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif Next time you upload pics, just copy the address of the pic and paste into the post directly from the address bar in your browser.
It might be a good idea to take and post some pictures of your trunk too. THat way everybody can get a good "overall" look at the car and what it needs "overall", and give you advice and such from there. It makes it easy if you have questions to be able to reference it with a pic, as you did with the rest of the car.
