I bought a motor about 5 years ago. It is a 350 chevy engine. Is there a way I can find out what compression ratio the pistons are without completely tearing apart the engine? Also I am getting ready to throw it into my car, can you tell me what I should do first. It has not ran in 5 years. I have not cranked the engine in years. I just want to know what procedures to make sure that it is properly lubed and that I don't harm the engine. Thanks.

To find the CR you'd need to remove a head. Once you do that you can either CC the heads and pistons or make a rough estimate by estimating the piston cc's and head cc's. I don't know of any way to get the CR without knowing what the piston cc's and chamber cc's are.
