I want to get my rear bumper rechromed over the winter. It has the original black rubber "SS" pad still there, in perfect condition, (and I want to keep it that way). The re-pops just don't look the same. Does anyone have any experience or tips on how to get this off without damage?

The pad is held on by very strong adhesive. Lacquer thinner and a very sharp razor blade will allow you to slowly "peel" it off. Do it in a well ventilated area, as lacquer thinner is powerful.
