I just installed a powertrax performance locker.

my question is do I need to install the spacers that would have retained the c-clips?

I have it installed w/o the spacers but have not driven it yet.

I originally thought no, but I thought the spacers might help locate the drivers. I know the cross shaft locates to drivers but so would the spacers

It's been a while since I installed one. I can't remember if they are used for spacers or not.

I think I will go ahead and reinstall the unit with the spacers just to be safe.

would not installing ths spacers allow the drivers to come out of alignment with the "side driven pieces"?

That is possible. I have one in my shop that I use for a demo. I could look at it and see how it looks. I haven't installed one in over a year and I can't remember if the spacers are needed or not.
