Not sure if this is the appropriate forum or not but I din't see a general forum so here goes anyway. I just purchased a 72 Chevelle SS, I just got the paper work from Canada indicating it did come with the SS option. The motor is not the original 402 that came with it but it is now a 454. My question, since it is not a matching numbers SS but a SS, is it beneficial for me (financially) to put it back to as close to original as possible? Everything is there and the car needs only a little work. Part of the question for me will be the car will need to be painted. It is currently all black, it was golden brown metallic from the factory. Does is matter that I put it back to golden brown metallic? Thanks in advance, you guys were instrumental for me purchasing this car.

Well murph, since the original engine is gone anyway, I don't see any value down the road by changing back to a 402. I would stay and work with what you have.

From a color standpoint, there is probably some selling value down the road by having it the coded color, but not significant. You're the one that has to live with it hopefully for the next several years so do it in a color that you want.

Just my $.02 worth.
