I know more than a few here run ZZ502 motors in various state of tune. I picked up a new 502HO crate motor at a really good deal that is eventually destined for install in the '69. I wanted to start addressing what performance anyone has had with it in stock form as well as if anyone has one with simple upgrades (mainly cam change and possibly intake). After some investigation I am going to leave it as a carb'd motor, hyd roller cam. Don't want to go carried away with a whole lot of money on parts/upgrades, actually,I may not really need to do anything at all to it other than drop it in and run it, but I would rather do any changes with the motor sitting on the stand rather than in the bay.

Thanks in advance for the input.

PS - I will be listing some good BBC parts as well as the current 408 motor as soon as I take some pics.

No more stroker huh?

Where did you get the motor at?

No Vince, no stroker. Not that the stroker is a bad idea, but with the last 2 blocks I looked at (including the one I had brought home and had on the stand to go over thoroughly ) had either chunks missing from the bottum of the cylinders or in the case of the last one, the block was sleeved and finished with a very thin sleeve. The other block had experienced a spun main and had a loose #2 cap - believe it or not, they actually had bored the block +.030 and sent it out with a warped cap. When I called them about it the response was - the main bolts will hold it in place. Yes - OK, I admit I'm stupid.

Anyway, the 502HO is new & complete. I'll share the details next time I see you.
