In replacing body bushings I notice that they sell a package of 10, and then a package of 14 for big blocks and convertibles.

I plan on doing a big block conversion down the road, is the set of 14 body bushings the way to go? In doing a search for information on this site for body bushings, I haven't read about this.

This is the 14 piece kit goodmark sells (http://goodmarkindustries.com/grphx/GM%20Car%20Photos/4030-990-642S%20COLOR.JPG)

while on this subject.....
Can anyone give me a reason why a previous owner of a 1972 frame I purchased would have welded on a 2 1/4" square pad over each bodymount location on the frame? At each bodymount point, the frame has this built-up of about a 1/4" thick steel, with no apparent rust or other damage to the existing frame below.
Also, is the Goodmark bodybushing set an OEM replacement?
Thanks, guys

I ordered a new body bushings kit from chevelle.com (great service BTW)and he said that you don't need those extra bushings. He might recommend them for convertibles but just for a BB conversion. I don't think the stock 396's had them but I'm not sure. Maybe someone else can answer that one.

I got the rubber bushings with the bolt kit.
