Engine clearance?

It has to do with manual versus power brakes.

The manual MC mounted flat to the firewall and used a higher brake pedal pushrod pivot for increased leverage.

The power booster/MC mounted at an angle so that the brake pedal pushrod pivot would match up to a lower hole in the brake pedal arm. This reduced pedal leverage as it was not needed with the additional boost.

Interesting. I thought it was a clearance problem, it's kinda tight between the inner wheel well and the booster. The wheel well even has a small indentation to clear the booster on my car, so I thought that was why. But the geometry of the pedal and pushrod wouldn't work out if it wasn't at an angle, so that makes sense.

My guess would have been that it would collect any air bubbles at the top corner of the resevoir rather than across the whole thing, but then I don't know what purpose that would serve...

Now, I like the pushrod angle idea much better !
