: Turn signals make the oil light come on!

ok, here goes:

I did the swap to the cs-130 alternator when my old one shorted out and blew the fusable link at the starter. I replaced the link on the red wire to the horn relay. I do have 12v at the horn relay. I ran a new 8ga wire from the alt to the horn relay.

I pulled the stock voltage regulator off, took out the white, orange, and blue wires, so the brown wire comes straight out of the bulkhead to the alt. Btw, its an idiot light dash.

Here lies the problem. There are no headlights, tail lights, interior lights etc. The gas gauge doesnt work. The oil light comes on when the key is on and the engine is off. If you fiddle with the key, the alt light will come on. The hot light does not. The kicker is that if you flip the turn signal light, the oil light comes on.

Initially i thought i may have put the bulkhead on wrong, but it only fits one way. All the fuses are ok. There is not voltage at the fuses. The black fusible link from the horn relay to the bulk head is good. The only thing i can figure without looking at my schematics(which are God knows where) is that the ign switch has finally shot. If this makes any sense, please help me out. Of if you know where i can find a decent online schematic for a 72 350 elky with idiot lights and a/c that would be nice to.

Thanks guys. Let me know if you need any more info.

Checked power at the BAT terminal of the fuseblock? The inginition switch doesn't control the headlights.

Yes i did, there was nothing. That indicates a fusible link is blown. However this morning, i pulled the bulkhead back off, double checked the continuity of the links to the fuse panel, and put it back together and the lights worked. Everything works like it should now. I'm not complaining but i would like to know what happened.

I know the headlights are on a direct feed from the horn relay, but i thought maybe a bad ign switch was shorting out the whole system. I need to replace it anyway to fix the finicky warning lights. Thanks for the reply.

Connector may not have been fully seated together.
