On my wifes 97 Tahoe(dark green)she scrubbeb the paint with a plastic cleaner pad trying to get some wet cement spots off the car.Now after I wash it I can see several dull spots where it looks like the clear coat has been scratched. This is the first car Ive ever owned with a clear coat and I know nothing about this. Can this be repaired or does it have to be repainted?(recleared?)Thanks all.

You could get some rubbing compound and try buffing it by hand. Or take it to a bodyshop and see if they can buff it for you.

hard to tell without looking at it and seeing how deep it is etc, you can try buffing them out with a compound (I recomend 3m) if that doesnt work you could try to color sand them out and buff to a shine.

I'd wetsand the area with 1500-2000 grit being careful not to cut through the clear. Follow that up with a buffer and polishing compound. Some guys do it in two steps (wool pad, foam pad). You might be able to do with with a foam pad and some swirl remover.
