Hey guys,...
The oddest thing keeps happening to my brother's Nova. He's got a 327 Nova with an Edelbrock 600cfm Carb, Edelbrock Performer Intake, and an Edelbrock fuel pump. The oddest thing keeps happening. It all began last fall when we purchased the vehicle. It had decent top end power but NO low end power. It couldn't even do a burn out,... on water! Back then it had a 750cfm carb which I told him to change because I felt it was a little too big. (not to mention it was old, looked terrible, and leaked) Anyway,... We spent most of this week trying to tune the car to get some low end power. With a Th-350 and 3.90 gears it should easily be able to burn rubber. I set the timing to 8 degrees BTDC @ 650 RPM, and set the carb back to factory spec using the air fuel adjustment screws. After I timed, the car I reset the idle to 1100 RPM. Still no power. And the oddest thing too. It seems as though you will be driving along and the car will just cut out for a second as if you took your foot off the gas and then in a spit second it will come back. It will almost buck, and this is with your foot on the gas at any speed. Back to yesterday,... Yesterday we ran a can of Sea Foam through the carb (great stuff), We revved it all out of the engine and adjusted the idle to about 1000 RPM. I took off and gave it gas,... it ran smoothly and as I laid into it in burned rubber all the way up the road. Burn out -- No Problem! Today,... I got back in the car, started it up, and smelled gas. As I looked under the hood, I saw the fuel line leaking from up where it connects to the carb. I tighetened it up and went to go take the car out for a ride,.... NO POWER AGAIN!!!! Also, it won't hold the idle - it keeps stalling. I am totally baffled and have no idea what to do. A friend of mine thinks that its a fuel delivery problem, but judging by the filter it seems to be getting gas.... What should I do?????
Thanks,
Dan
