HI,
I am just putting the finishing touches back on after repainting my 72 convertible with metallic gold BC/CC.
The problem is that when I was hanging the passenger side fender, the alighnment was wrong and when I opened the door the paint between the edge of the door and the back edge of the front fender chipped off in a couple of small (1/4-1/2") spots. One of the chips is down to the metal. What is the best way to go about fixing this? I would like to avoid having to reshoot the whole door if possible and would even settle for a brush touch up as long as it wouldn't look super obvious, because I was planning on replacing the whole door before too long anyway. Thanks!

I actually saw a show on tv over the weekend that covered this topic. They built up the paint by applying some touch up paint to the chip, letting it dry, then repeating the process until it was slightly higher than the chip. They then took some wet/dry sandpaper (sorry forgot the grit) and glued a roundpiece to the tip of a pencil eraser (same size) and slowing sanded until it was flush and then used a rubbing compound followed by wax. Could hardly see it when they were done.
