Yep, I'll be there. Midnight Marauder (Beaux) is riding up with me. Gokou (Troy) is supposed to be there as well.

Beaux and I will be staying in Chico Friday and Saturday night. Lets hit up some bars. I gotta check out my old stompin' grounds again :D

I had only planned on being there Saturday, but I now have Friday off. Any suggestions for a possible last minute place to stay? Talk about short notice...

Troy, depends where you want to stay. This close to KAN, there probably won't be much available in Redding (although it's worth a shot). Red Bluff is another city that may have rooms available. I stay in Chico with an old college roommate and his wife. Always a good time. Endless bars and dirt-cheap beer.

you prob could find a cheap hotel to stay in chico. Bunch of hotels around here(i'm going to school there right now). Do a google search and a bunch will pop up. WOuld let you crash at my place, but i got a full house as it is. And yes, i can confirm the dirt cheap beer and good times:)

I hope the recent forecast changes don't hold true... they're now showing rain on Friday and Saturday. I was keeping my fingers crossed for good weather, so I could bring the Chevelle. If the weather is bad I'll have to bring my new rice-mobile... yes, I bought a Japanese car recently, complete with a giant wing on the back and a large diameter exhaust tip under the bumper. I may have to bring it to our next local get together instead of the Chevelle just to see the look on everyone's face when I roll in with a rice-mobile. LOL.

if it is raining, looks like wi will not be able to make it. I've got 500 different school related things i need to do, and my only excuse for going was good weather. Is it just me or does it seem to rain EVERY year at this event:(

Nope, as much as I wanted one they're too overpriced (thanks, Fast and the Furious!) and lack a warranty, plus it would be about as practical for a dailiy driver as my 87 Vette which I am replacing. I wanted something fun but with more room than the Vette; I was tired of trying to stuff several rifles and all my shooting gear in the Vette every weekend. Getting lots of rifles in a Supra would be just as tough.

Let's just say it's new, turbo, 300hp, AWD, 6-speed. See if you can figure it out. :)

Walked into the dealership wanting WR Blue with gold wheels as my first option, and Platinum Silver as the second option, then I saw Crystal Gray (new color for '05) and ended up taking that one home. I like the color so much I may end up painting the Chevelle the same thing! The color looks really, really good in the sun. Forgiving about not showing much dirt and dust too, which is nice as I prefer trashing my cars much more than constantly keeping them clean.

It's a blast to drive, although it needs a bit less understeer when pushed really hard (Cobb tuneable swaybar kit to the rescue) and it could use more power (We'll be waiting a few thousand miles before any of that happens, 375hp is a downpipe, ECU, and exhaust away). I'm overinflating the tires to eliminate a bit of sidewall roll-under on turn in I was having with the factory recommended inflation pressures, and even with the higher pressures I already have the tires scuffed nearly to the "Bridgestone" on the sidewalls. My friends are actually placing money on how long the tires will live.

Worst thing about it is that it is a stupid ricer magnet. Wait, let me correct, it's a stupid driver magnet, as it brings out dumb behavior in many drivers. Revs, flybys, etc, I get 'em all. Today I had a guy in a 5.0 Mustang slow way down and rev at me... mind you, he was going the OTHER WAY and there was a center divide in between us! They just can't resist! Best way to **** 'em off is to totally ignore them, their ego's can't stand not being recognized! LOL.

People don't pull ANY crap when I'm in the Chevelle. That's either because the paint looks like crap and they think "oh, just another junker" or because they hear it and slink down in their seats. I'd like to think the latter. :)

Nice. I like em, actually, always have. Is there a way around the wing? Is it really needed for downforce and all that good stuff or more just looks and to look dead on WRC? I have thought about these rides ever since the first WRX was released but always thought that if I got one, the first thing i'd do is rip the wing off, flip it upside down, hang it from the ceiling and use it for a porch swing where i'd hang out, drink malt liquor and eat fried catfish. :D

Cool ride. I met an older guy two years ago that has owned every perf. subaru to hit the market, I think he started the california subaru performance enthusiast club of some sort many years ago. He had a tweaked WRX in the shop a buddy works in and it was mean as hell. He had all sorts of work done, stated he was putting out roughly 420 hp ("The dyno sheets at home") but it was an awesome ride....but then again, I am a big WRC fan so these stick with me.

Good stuff, Troy. You should change your screen name to Anti-N/A. ;)

Troy,

If you don't mind me asking, what did it cost (roughly)? Do they deal well (below MSRP or close to invoice) on the STi's or are they too hot for that?

I will be attending this, but my car won't be coming... Kinda hard to move without a tranny... I will be there Friday, Saturday, and we will leave Sunday. This will be my 3rd year. We always stay are the Marina RV park, on Park Marina Dr. We take my Uncle's bus motorhome thing. Last year half the park was empty. It's within walking distance of the fairgrounds too! We don't like being stuck in traffic.

Stevens Creek Subaru is asking around $30.5K right now, they had over 30 in stock. They said they "ordered too many" as the reason for the sale, the real reason is that until recently they all had an $8K dealer markup and nobody was buying.

I bought mine at Livermore and got it for 31K (just a smidge over invoice), mine has a few options-- autodimming mirror with compass, security system upgrade, armrest extension, wheel locks, and floormats. I also talked them into throwing in some parts (oil filters, air filters, A/C system filters, drain plug crushwashers, etc.) The armrest extension is currently off the car, as it was an "elbow knocker" when shifting into 2nd, 4th, and 6th. I have to run over Friday and pick up a standard console lid.

Other than the stupid elbow knocker, so far I love the thing. It's finally got enough miles on it where I can have some fun with it, and it scoots pretty well for a stocker. :) Sounds pretty mean above 5K, nothing at all like a Honda, a much lower pitched growl rather than a shriek. (thank god it doesn't sound like your typical fartcanned Civic...)

Was at Sac tonight, and there was one out there running 12.5-12.6 @ 107-108. Don't know what all was done to it. My guess was ECU/downpipe/exhaust.

 You could have bought a used '02-3 Z0-6 and you come home with this car? As the soup natzi says: NO SOUP FOR YOU!

Hehe, kidding, I like those rides, tons of potential and decent looking as well. Just ditch the wing, and those ricers will leave you alone http://pages.prodigy.net/rogerlori1/emoticons/shoota.gifhttp://pages.prodigy.net/bestsmileys1/emoticons1/AMIGOS.GIF

A 02-up Z06 was at the top of my list until I "borrowed" a friends to test fit my shooting stuff-- I couldn't fit my rifles in one. I then considered a GTO, but the trunk on one of those is SMALLER than the Z06 thanks to the US cars having the gas tank in the trunk rather than under the car like the Aussie market cars. I was also thinking about a Chevy/GMC/Dodge diesel truck, but the cheapest one I wanted was $44K (ouch!) So I joined the dark side and bought the ricer.

I suppose what I should have done is bought the Z06 anyways and made the Chevelle the official gun-toting vehicle, it has plenty of room in the trunk! LOL.

Unfortunately, I won't be going up to Redding tomorrow morning. I got a call tonight and someone wants to look at my Vette tomorrow, and he sounds like he may be buying.

You mentioned buying a Z06, as along with a GN. I do like the STi, and the EVO, both do everything very well, and not too expensive either. The GTO is a nice car as well, and with great power but like other domestic products it will plummet in the resale department if bought new, with the imports you are safer there if that mattered.

I want to drive a CTS-V one of these days, but I am afraid I just won't fit. It was an idea, make the wife happy it has 4 doors, and 400hp for me, enough to justify the purchase right? ;)

Craig,

I'm 6'0" Monday - Friday and 6'1" on weekends, 180lbs. I drove a CTS V for a quick short lap at Candlestick and I fit in just fine, with the steering wheel at a confortable distance away and the pedals at a perfect distance too. I saw people larger than me get in without major problems.

Thanks Ricardo, in fact I went out today and drove a CTS-V and put it through it's paces in Modesto. I drove a black on black one, beautiful. Anyway, it was a 6 speed (I believe they come stock) and a LS2 engine. The interior room was small (I am 6-9) so the comfort level was not daily driver friendly for me. One of the first things I noticed was the velvet smoothness of the drivetrain and the brakes were awesome. But one thing I found that was most cumbersom to manage was the full throttle to shift smoothness was jerkey at best. I don't know what the heck was wrong, but I could not find 3rd gear if my life depended on it under power. Also my passengers complained of jerkeyness when I was 'hot rodding' it. Quick ride, and great breakes for sure, but I just can't afford the 50G price tag.

BUT one car I found affordable and quite smooth, had more room for me and was all around easier for me to drive fast was the '05 GTO. It hauls the mail, shifts mooth as butta (6 speed) and is very affordable for me is this car. The one thing holding me back today was the current car I own (2000 SSEi bonneville) was how much I still owed on it (soon to be corrected) and the 2 doors on the GTO because I have 2 kids and niether of them liked it. But I did, the power baby, and the sounds. It is pretty intoxicating the power and the whole driving experience. I know I sound like a commercial for Pontiac, but dammit I really like this car. All of you just may see me in this car very soon..........Troy, let's run 'em :D
