Hi guys,

I am putting a 502 in a 66 Chevelle. After reading the archives I know about the oil pan issue and the preference of a 200 R/4. My question is: Has anyone done this? I am asking because I would like to know things about fuel pumps, 1 or 2 fuel lines, diameter, motor mount issues, cooling isues? I would very much like to talk to someone who has done this before. Hopefully I can skip some of the hassels you have been through. Thanks in advance,
Peter

Hi Peter, I've done a 502 install in a 66. I used a T400 though. I may go to an OD tranny later on. Send me any ?'s that you have by private message and I'll be happy to answer them. You can see some of it on my website also.

My '65 has a 496/200 4R combo, is that close enough? I really can't advise you on the fuel system as I used a regular 6 port mechanical pump. I did use 1/2" line from the fuel tank forward, no return line, no regulator. Solid Moroso motor mounts with an Energy polyurethane trans mount. Cheapest good cooling system will be a 4 core copper/brass radiator with the factory BB shroud and a 6 or 7 blade mechanical fan and fan clutch. I currently have an aluminum radiator with no shroud, fine on the highway, goes low 200's in the city.

What else would you like to know?
