: Will these rings fit?

Well the 402 is now at the machine shop awaiting an overbore to 4.154 inches. The rigns I bought are for the same bore but now I'm wondering if these will work?

Will these rings work in a 4.154 bore? Or does the bore need to be bigger?

Dawg,
First of all, the correct overbore for a 402 is 4.155, not 4.154 unless you are using .060" oversize 396 pistons. The R9210's are file fit rings for a .060" oversize 396, not for a .030" oversize 402. I am not sure why they have the bore size listed as 4.159 ... probably a misprint. So .... you need to figure out which pistons you are using, and what bore size they are designed for. Then pick the correct rings. Why dont you let your machine shop get you the rings, that way you will know they are correct ? I am pretty sure I could sell those rings for the same price. Personally, unless this is an all out race engine, or you like the extra work, I would just be using a non file fit set of Hastings Moly rings. Probably half the price and work great in 99% of engines.
Just my opinion,

Bill,

I had to use the .060 396 pistons because they were the only ones sold thru Summit that had a .182 dome. The actual 402 pistons they sell have a .319 dome...and with me running 101 cc heads everyone said I'd have problems.

So, with that I bought the .060 396 pistons and I bought the cheapo set of rings they sold. But then I began to wonder since I'm going to be running this engine hard at the track perhaps I should've gotten the rings that I have posted the link to?

Remember, I only want to have to do this once so why not do it right the first time. Thanks!

Dawg,
If you are using the 396 pistons, then the rings you linked to should work as long as the pistons have the same ring groove sizes.

When I chose these pistons, Summit recommended this set of rings and the ones I purchased, I was just confused about the 4.159 bore thing.
