I bought my 69 SS from Val Strough Chevrolet in Oakland, Ca. The base color is dark metallic blue. Along each side were two thin light blue strips. They kinda looked hand painted. They were definitely different from anything I or my paint man have ever seen. Does anyone know the specs of these stripes? Does anyone have these on their car and could send me a picture? Who is the best stencil company that might know about these stripes?
Thanks

Sounds like what you have are pin stipes rather than the regular SS stripes. Back in those days these were painted on by hand and a lot of the dealers put them on themselves. I'm not aware of any stencil for them, maybe somebody else can jump in here.

Be aware that in '69 all Malibus came with painted pinstripes. I've never heard of them being used on any '69 SS396. For 1968 though it is a different matter. Both the Malibu and the SS396 came with pinstripes standard. If your SS396 had optional bold D96 stripes across the front header panel, down the lower front fender and along the lower bodyside above the black lowers, then the pinstripes were deleted.
