Has anyone used the green 3M 233 masking tape before? Should I try it or stick with the regular 3M masking tape? Any others?

I heard 3M has decided not to quit making the old style tape and it will continue to be available. We've had green in my area for about 6 years now. The green is good though, bends nice and also water resisitant if you need to do any wetsanding while still masked. The only thing about the green I don't care for is the increased thickness. Another quality tape is PG27, and a bit more cost effective. Bob

From what I was told adhesion and removal is suposed to be better. One other reason is identification purposes. When you asked or ordered 3M tape, you would know that you got it because of the color. It would cost other manufactures a lot more to do it in green.

The reason for the color change(EX.Green)is due to the adhesives. Just like the paint with the VOC's. the tape glue has to follow the same environmental path. By making the tape in different colors makes it easy to identify as far as compliance.
Yes you can still buy the old tan color tape that we have all been use to.
I personally like the green better.

We have been selling the green ever since it became available. Our customers like it a lot. Of course found out a couple of months ago that 3M was going to bring back the old tan stuff. This was after everyone is now used to the green. Don't these manufacturers think ahead??

I like the green, just don't leave a bunch of it in your car on a warm day. Man that adhesive stinks!
