is the fuel sending unit (in tank pickup and gage unit) still available OEM? I purchased an after market one when I redid my 72 and it has never read correctly. I thought it might be the gage or wiring but I've eliminated them as possible problems. I am gong to have to change gas tanks this spring and am thinking that maybe the after market unit I purchased is crap. I'm wondering if they are still available from the dealer network.

thanks in advance

I'm pretty sure the ones sold by Year One, etc are genuine GM.

I got a GM one for my '70 (with the pricetag to boot) from Ground Up.

why pay the shipping if I can walk into the local dealer and buy it there.

I would certainly try that, but there are two potential pitfalls...the dealership may not have an old parts catalog to go back and look up the right one, and in many cases, the restoration parts houses like groound Up and Year One have alredy bought out all the remaining original GM stock.

OK zero ohms at lowest point of repro sender(float) and as you raise up-ward chev (65-up) top off at 90 ohms just my opinion, and you know you have a good repro sender, the last thing you want to do is it up gas it up and have to remove and re-do

I was able to buy the correct one for my 66 at a Chevy dealer here in Kansas City, you should always check the dealers first, you will be surprised at what the dealer has and can still get.:)

I ordered one for my '70 model with 402 about 8 years ago. The GM part # back then was 6428035 .This sender has a 3/8 inch output and a 1/4 inch return line like my original. Also came with the black ground wire attached.
