have any of you ever broken the starter wire from the key, that goes on the firewall, while trying to drop an engine or tranny in? I'm searching for a problem in mine and just wondering if that ever has happened to anyone else, because I think that's what happened to me. Thanks.

Whats the problem? will it just not turn over? Put a test light on the end of the starter wire and have someone turn the engine over. Another thing to check is the neutral safety switch. Those go bad sometimes, it should be on your steering column and have a plug with 2 fat purple wires going in to it. If you unplug that and run a little jumper to bridge the wires, see if it starts... if it does you need a new NSS, if not you probably have a break in the wire somewhere.
