: body shop recommendations in LA, CA
grain Dec 13th, 03, 5:47 PM Hi,
I've been lurking for a while just picking up tips here, thanks!
I'm looking for recommendations for cool, laid-back body shops or individuals in the Los Angeles area that do good work. I have my favorite mechanic but, sadly, he doesn't do any body work. I ask everyone I see with a good looking el camino where they go, but no luck. I've been putting off this work until I found the right person, but I was recently a victim of a hit and run! (insert tears and anger here)
Any help is greatly appreciated and thanks for the community. smile.gif
Bomber '67 Dec 13th, 03, 10:19 PM Sure, go see:
Jerry's Body Shop
3125 East Gage Avenue, Huntington Park, CA 90255
(323) 588-1131
Bring your own gun, the neighborhood is rough - absolutely first rate work at prices that make you think you've gone back in time.

jr71c Dec 16th, 03, 7:51 PM A gun? Ignorant remarks like that one come from sheltered suburban neighborhood fags
Bomber '67 Dec 17th, 03, 9:44 AM Frank, no lie, the first time I was at the shop there was a shootout in the apartments caddy-corner to the body shop - heavy police turn out for that one. Los Angeles is big with both nice and bad neighborhoods, and if you live in La La land then you already know that this section of Huntington Park is no peach.
Commentary: My business has at times taken me into many of the less trendy areas of L.A. where I have met good hard working people making their version of the American Dream come true. None of these people would dismiss the challenges of doing business in their particular area of L.A.
Frank, I'm sorry if your city life has you despising the suburbs.
Peace, Thomas

What else are ya supposed to hunt gangsters with? I've tried baseball bats but its messy and too slow. Plus, when I go to softball practice I get wierd looks because of the stains. Stick to revolvers - No shell casings to worry about.
dennymac Dec 17th, 03, 12:44 PM I use Bob's Body & Fender, in Van Nuys. He did all of the body work & primary color on my '69 El Camino. Give him an email to Bano@bobsbodyrepair.com and tell him that Dennis sent you. Take a look at my truck. If you like what you see, give him a call at 818-786-1954 http://www.dennymac.com/mod.php?mod=userpage&menu=100608&page_id=41&PHPSESSID=b8e8b2002788ffc78efa30644f9d42d7
Good luck.
jr71c Dec 17th, 03, 12:54 PM I drive to Huntington park several times a month and have never witnessed an act of violence. As a matter of fact, that city is a very desirable place to establish a business in. News reports and stories told by heroes like you give L.A a bad rep. A tragedy occurred next door two years ago. Two of my dearest life long friends lost their life that night. I was not pleased with what the media had to say. . . "This is likely to happen in low income neighborhoods "channel.9
"The low income family did not have enough living space" channel 2
That information was not correct. The family might not see six figures a year but 45k/45k combined is not bad. That plus owning a home does not put the family standing on the low income category.
It would be like me saying you don't have the balls to carry a loaded gun in your car just because you are from garden grove . . . do you?
Bomber '67 Dec 17th, 03, 9:22 PM Frank, I am sorry to hear that you lost two of your friends in a senseless tragedy. I am glad to hear you are proud of the area and like doing business there. Please notice that I was giving a recommendation for a good shop to do business with.
As far as I know there are guns everywhere in California (but not in my car or house), its not LA exclusive. I'm no hero by any means, unfortunately I have been near gunfire too many times - I can assure you that I know the sound of real bullets hitting cars and ricocheting off things. I'm not sure how your visits to Huntington Park have any bearing on the gunfire occuring during one of my visits there.
I am sorry that you took offense at my light hearted remark, but its kinda like the bullet hole stickers sold everywhere - sometimes the best way to deal with the unexplainable violence is through humor.
I have no idea how you extrapolated your parting comment.
Peace, let it rest. I wish you the best and I'm done with this topic.

I just got back from Jerry's.
He's real nice and the neighborhood is fine.
