I talked to a guy at the Dallas swap meet that said he replaced his 67 chevelle hood with a goodmark SS hood. He said it was about 1/2 the weight & thought the quality wan't near as good as a original hood. Anyone have any exsperience with goodmark sheetmetal? I thought they were the best.
I want to buy a SS hood for my 66 and don't want to regret it. Thanks for you'r help.

I have a Goodmark hood on one of my cars and just bought a stock GM SS hood to replace it as the Goodmark hood flexes quite a bit as you drive down the road.......The fit and finish is pretty good but the thin metal flexing is something I can't deal with......the stock SS Inserts are pretty heavy and I don't think the metal is strong enough......

My dad has a 67 clone ss it has an aftermarket ss hood and it fits ok. I had a guy tell me that all aftermarkets dont fit good a bow in the hood it has an arch in it and the hoods are thinner. Now Every ss I look at I look at the hood. You can really see the bow in the hood when someone points it out 1 time. I did a test and asked some owners if they replaced the hood (the bow people said they did) (no bow not replaced)
Just my .02 and experience.

Very astute observation Jamie.....I was going to mention that also, but I figured that it would be hard to explain that.....

Jamie......
I see you are in Texas.....the yellow car is out of the Houston area.......always remember .....the key to a nice car is............ Detail,.........Detail,...........Detail........
When you go to car shows and you see nice cars that you think to yourself....if he would have only spent a little more time detailing this and that......the details are the key ......unbolt it....clean it.....detail it .....and put it back on......it doesn't have to always be about money.......just dedication, disipline, and .....time.......

I've got an aftermarket hood on my 67 SS and it bows so bad I'm ashamed of the car. ___ley's Chevelle parts said they would guarantee the fit................guarantee it to fit BAD!!! Wouldn't give me my money back either after stating he would! Oh oh.......was that a supplier bashing?

thanks Guys for the feedback, I guess I will be looking for a stock ss hood. By the way how can I tell I'm not getting a repo just by looking at it?
Thanks again,
Dan

I have a 70-72 style domed Goodmark hood on my wagon now.Still unpainted, but it looks good and straight to me... ;) Bought it from a club member who is a dealer and a body shop owner, and has used several of them all to good results...
