Hey there, I was wondering if anyone has heard of fenders cracking? I recently had my '70 painted; it started out in nearly flawless condition, but when I got it back, both of my fenders had cracks at the bend for the flange at the wheelwell (behind the tire). I think that the cracks may be due to heat and sanding (there was a rivet hole about 9in. from the crack, that I had welded). If anyone has had this happen (these were factory fenders, they had zero rust, had never been damaged, or had anything wrong with them), could you tell me what the proper manner of having this fixed would be? I don't want to just have them welded up and then have the crack propagate someplace else because of the heat introduced by the weld.
Thanks,

almost every single 70 fender I have had, had a crack of some degree on that corner, and needed to be welded. In my experience 70 fenders are notorious for cracking there, just over time romping on the gas and having the body flex will cause this damage. I make it a habbit of inspecting and cleaning every inch of that bend inside and out to see any potential cracks, then weld 'em up.

anybody else have this problem?
