Do you leave your computer turned on? If it happens when it's turned off the battery is probably going dead. Depends on type of computer but many use a small lithium battery, like for a garage door opener or keyless remote to keep time while powered off.

Oops! Sounds like a bad clock circuit or oscillator, don't think there is much you can do. I mean you can replace the motherboard or buy a new PC but probably not worth it just because the clock is wrong.

Can be windows? Can be another application or possible updater etc. A few things to try is power down the computer for a day or two and see if a cmos checksome error comes up when you boot up. If so the battery is bad. If not it might be the actual clock portion. What I would do is go to a command prompt from a boot disk and leave it there. Then type time and check it after 24hrs. If it stays true then something software wise is the issue. If it were me I would do the boot disk because that weeds out the hardware software debate right there on the spot.

I think you can go to the Navel Observatory's site and get auto time updates for the clock. I'm not positive about this, but you could have it update however many times a day it takes to keep the clock right.

I wonder if the clock not keeping time is a sign of the battery going away. If so it should be changed.
