Hi...I own a black 1972 chevelle "driver" that has a 3 year old or so $800 MAYCO paint job that the previous owner had just put on the car before I bought it,,,and for a production type shop it looks real good. I do have some minor paint cracks at some of the typical spots we see these older cars get them over time. The question I have is,,when the paint is cracked (very fine lines) what shows thru is a bright pure white color?? The car was org. gold and before the black paint went on it was an ugly pale yellow. Can anyone tell me what this white material under the black paint would be?? Thanks in advance for any input!
PS-I treat these areas at this time by using an auto touch up black paint and fine brush,,,some day when I have the $$ I will strip the car down and do some body work and repaint, but this seems ok for now.
