What is a average cost to sleeve a 396. I know it will depend on the area, but just a close idea will be fine? Do you have to deck the block after the sleeves are put in?

i just had a s/b done, and i think it was around $180, cant find my rec.
they decked it afterward, and no matter how close i look, i cant tell it is sleeved(the bore had some rust in the a cyl, and .030 bore would not clean it up, and i was tired of looking for another block, so thats why i went with a sleeve) i would imagine the price for a b/b would be close

So if you wanted to bring a over bored block back to a stock bore it cost about $1500.00. It would be better to find another block, unless it's the original engine.

FWIW, PAW is sleeving blocks back stock and selling them for not all that much money, but the kicker is that you can only get one as a block option with a complete motor kit if I remember right.....

Please check into it if you want to.

R,
Are you talking about sleeving one cylinder to repair a crack etc, or sleeving all 8 ? I get $120 labor plus the price of the sleeve to do one cylinder. If I was doing all 8 I would probably bill it by the hour ... I would guess at about $500 labor plus the sleeves.
