Moss,
Not sure about 72 but if I remember correctly my 71 looked very similar to a Hurst handle with a plain white ball on it. I will see if I have any pics of the interior when it was new, but I doubt it. I broke the three speed at New England Dragway when the car had about 700 miles on it and had to drive back to Maryland with just 1st and 3rd gear :( Put a Muncie in shortly after getting home.

I remember seeing an unmolested (except by the elements) '72 Heavy Chevy with a 350 & a factory 3-speed floor shift decades ago. It had a plain, flat blade shifter (like the regular Muncie bench seat 4-speed style; it had no lettering on it) with a round, black shift ball. Curiously it had no shift map on the ball. The boot appeared original. As I recall, that year Chevy offered Chevelles only with the 3-speed floor shift when the car had a 350 (even though it was just a Saginaw); the six & 307 were column shift.
