It's been a very long time since I painted a car. I've painted with acrylic lacquer in the past, but I am going to be shooting BC/CC on a 66 Volkswagen Baja (This is practice before I do my El Camino). I'm planning to use PPG products, probably Deltron 2000 (DBC) basecoat and Concept 2021 Urethane Clear. I've picked a 2004 Chevrolet SSR color called Ultra Violet (code 21U) for this project.
I am planning to visit the paint store soon, but wanted to verify the paint choices (there seem to be several possible Clears to use). This will need to air dry quickly. And I have no idea how much paint I should get. How much paint should I need to paint the exterior, trunk, and interior areas on a Bug? Any idea what my budget should be for the materials?
