What is the correct way to bolt in buck seats with respect to the rug? Do I just cut holes for the studs and let the entire track sit on top, or does the rug get notched to make a flap and cover the bolting flange? How did the factory do it? What is the most popular technique?

That's the ticket, Mike. The cuts in the rug have a 'T' shape to them.
