I found a guy thats been spraying for about 10yrs and uses ppg, which works for me. He is renting a booth and going to spray bc/cc next week for me, atleast thats whats scheduled so far. I did all the prep work so it's just getting sprayed up and finished. It sounds like a nice shop but I dont want to leave it overnight anywhere. I don't even want to leave it somewhere period! I will be there while its done, back and fourth waiting outside, etc. Main question, how long after the clears are finished, to drive it home? Possible in the same night?

i sprayed dupont last week bc/cc baked it at 140 degrees for 40 minutes let it cool down then drove it home and let it sun bake for a couple of days as long as its not going to rain i think you can take it home the same day . dont park it under any trees watch out for bird doo doo .

I just took a gander at a couple clearcoat tech sheets, one being Diamont dc-92 says 4-5hrs at 68deg. 45min at 140deg. The other says "dry to handle in 8 hrs." I'd leave it overnight if at all possible, if not be extra careful, the clear will be very soft.

If the booth does not have a bake feature then its overnight.
The fastest PPG clear DC3000 is 1.5hr air dried at 70, thats time to buff. But that clear is ONLY a 3 panel clear. Why to fast for a complete.

All other PPG clears are in the overnight range, 2021, 2042, 2055, 2085.
Unless he uses DFX11 which is a supercharger makes it dry extra fast, but it also makes the clear turn yellow

I would let it sit over night even if it is a bake-n-booth tongue.gif I'm sure it will be fine. I had to let my car stay in the booth for 4 days before I went and got it.

Baked or not, leave it overnight. If there are any runs, drips or anything else, you'll want it fixed before you take it home. Just remember that when they say it's dry and ready for assembly, it's still not really dry. It does take a bit of time for it to completely dry and harden.

I can't wait to see some pic's....

Well a guy I just recently found is renting a booth, I just get freaked out hearing about stolen alerts. It's a good drive too, to get home... I'd say about 20-25 minutes on the freeway, or backstreets.

Hey everyone, the car is primed completely, I just have a few finishing touches this week, all trim is down, good to go. Scheduled to go into the booth on Friday morning. Im not sure how late this shop is open yet but I don't wanna leave it overnight. Im estimating maybe 4-5 hours to shoot it all? And not sure how long to dry at the minimum? Whats the bare minimum you would wait for a bc/cc? Hm, Im a little nervous and excited about the whole situation.
