Just got a new headlight switch from yearone for my 72 chevelle. I've removed the dash pad but there isn't much room to work with, and it's nearly impossible for me to see what I'm working on and have my hands in there do to the angle of the windshield. Anyway, I can't seem to get the old light switch out, it's hard to find how it's being attached. Has anyone else done this before? Is there a special trick that I don't know about?

Thanks for any help.

If like on the 68,just past the wire harness connector in back theres a push in spring loaded button.Push it in and it releases the headlight rod.Pull out easily.Let go of plunger.Unhook wire harness, and theres also a nut on the outside of bezel.Replace headlight shaft just opposite push in plunger and insert till hits end and let go of plunger. This is on the 68 think pretty much the same on 72.Lewis

72 is the same = push button on side.. Actually, looking down on the assembly, the button would be on the right side (towards the middle). Once you push the button in you shoud be able to twist and pull the light knob right out. DrewC

Thanks guys. I'll give it a try. I knew it had to be something simple.
