Just got my doors aligned (I think) and am hanging the fenders on my 68. I have a few stupid questions...
1.) What size gap should there be at the rear of the door? Can I control that gap? What I have looks rather large to me.
2.) What size gap should there be between the fender and the door?
3.) Does the INNER fender go to the inside of the lip of the fender or does it mount to the outside?
Thanks!

I recently went through this on my 68. I try to keep all the gaps the same. I got mine all around 3/16 of an inch. This also includes the gaps around the hood. The only exception might be the gap between the door and fender. This is critical because of the way the door moves closer to the fender as it opens.
The inner fender bolts to the outside of the fender. So the bolts go through the inner fender. through the fender, into the gaged nut.

Cool. That helps. I assume then that I should be able to get the gap at the rear of the door correct by loosening the hinge? Doesn't seem to want to go any further back, but I'll give it another try.
Sounds like I need a bigger hammer on my inner fenders. They must be tweaked a little. Need to find those rotten nuts...if they'd been on the inner fenders, I suppose I would have known that's how it went back together.
I've done a ton of mechanical work over the years...but this bodywork stuff is always filled with new suprises! graemlins/clonk.gif
Thanks again.
