I am going to replace the factory warning lights with a shiftworks repop guage package. The directions call to run one positive wire from the battery and one positive wire from the horn relay on the radiator support. I'm trying to keep the original look under the hood and don't really want these extra wires that are not in my new wiring harness. Is there any way to use the pink and brown from the generator light for part of this or can I get the connections from somewhere else under my dash or fuse panel?

Their directions sound correct for hooking up an ammeter. Hope they mentioned to add fuses or fusible links in each one of the leads.

Shiftworks also offers a volt gauge in place of the amp gauge, it doesn't require the added underhood wires.

Thanks, So do I understand that the only solution is to run an extra wire from the battery?

The pink and brown wires for the gen light are, pink - +12 volts from the inst fuse and brown - is in parallel with a brown/white wire, from the ignition switch, that ends up at the voltage regulator. If you are using the original external voltage regulator you need the brown wire for the charging system.
You will need to run two wires. The amp gauge needs the connections at the horn relay and J-block (battery). The gauge measures the voltage difference between the two points. If the voltage is higher at the J-block than at the horn relay current is flowing out of the battery or discharging. If the voltage is higher at the horn relay than at the J-block current is flowing into the battery or charging. Higher voltage differance = higher current flow.
If you already have the Shiftworks gauge kit, then yes you will need to add the wiring for the amp gauge.
Another option is contact Shiftworks, could be they will exchange the amp gauge for the volt gauge. Shiftworks 66/67 gauge kit with amp gage is #S505 66/67 gauge kit with volt gauge is #S505-V.

I think I will call them and swap to a voltmeter. Thanks
