Has anyone used the Goodmark quarter panels for a 65 chevelle. If so how did they fit and were your happy.

I'm looking at Goodmark too.
I would love to hear others experiences with them too.

I got Goodmark 1/4's on my 71, and they were great. They'll need some work, but all of them will need that. Dave

I could be mistaken, but I believe that the supplier of the Goodmark panels is the same that I got from Sherman & Associates here in Michigan. It is a Taiwanese source.

The skin quality is pretty good, however. I just finished the passenger's side skin/outer wheelhouse/trunk dropoff replacement this weekend. I'm pleased with the results.

I bought my quarter skins for my 65 from Goodmark 2 summers ago. They dodged my question as to whether they stamped their own in the good old USA. When they arrived, they are stamped made in Taiwan. So, I think most vendors get their 65 quarters from the same offshore manufacturer. Hence you may chose the closer vendor to save shipping. Having said that, I thought the panels were good in quality. Matched up well to the old ones and welded in fine. But remember, they are skins only, not full sail panels, and need extensive welding on whatever line of cut you choose.

So it seems that both Goodmark and Sherman are made in Taiwan. Fit was okay so looks like I can give either a shot. Thanks.
I need to pick up a left quarter panel one of these days. Hope to cut it in like Tim_D shows. Its going to take a bit of massaging since the tail light and wheel well area was also damaged. The replacement quarters don't include the tail light section, so this will be fun. Also the trunk floor that extends out of trunk and under rear bumper needs some reconstruction due to rust.
Need some more pratice with my Mig before I try replacing the quarter.

The passenger side received a new skin, outer wheelhouse, and trunk dropoff. The driver's side is under construction now. All parts were purchased from Sherman & Associates (http://www.shermanparts.com/) here in Michigan. They are 10 miles from my place of work.

lower rear is spot welded to. and also the outer edge of the trunkpan.

thanks, rich I think we're referring to the same part. The trunk dropoff (or trunk to quarter filler panel) spot welds to the outer, lower lip of the trunk floor, to the quarter at the bumper area and under the extension behind the wheel well, and also to the rear lower edge of the outer wheelhouse. It's a pretty ugly part, but it serves a huge function!

No picture of the part in there catalog, so

What did you use to cut the quarter panel, cut off wheel?
Maybe you would know. Does the trunk floor panel actually extend out the rear of the car or is that a seperate piece of metal? The quarter panel, below the tail light opening, overlaps (covers) what looks like the floor pan. This is the piece inside the bumper and originally had rubber seals/weatherstrip stapled to.

I used a body saw for the cuts. It leaves a thinner gap to weld.

Also, I know what you're talking about by your description, but I can't say for sure if the part that extends past the taillight area is actually an extension of the trunk floor.

Yes, the outer wheelhouse is spot welded at the quarter wheel opening. I have a 3/16" hole punch that I used to create holes in the quarter lip. I then clamped the lip to the outer wheelhouse (after wheelhouse installation) and welded through. It actually fills in the 3/16" hole very cleanly, with little grinding needed to make it level.

there are two peices sandwitched from the fatory at the rear tail pan.. the tail pan it self and the trunk pan,, then the stapled rubber gasket.. it's rust just looking for a place to start !!!! plus the bottom cross rear trunk brace...

Thats what I thought. Although my car was a southern car it still has that nasty rust. Parts of the tail pan is bad, while other areas are still good. The trunk pan is so so.
From the inside of the trunk, where the two overlap, it looks like the factory caulked.
I guess I have some fun ahead of me.

just curios was the outer wheelwell on the outside of that window support panel or did you cut the old one flush and weld the new one on the outside if you know what i mean?on my 70 the outer wheelwell is sandwiched between the inner wheelwell on that rear panel the regulator bolts to. it looks like a rear pain to remove and i was thinking of putting it on the outside thanks mark
