I have been searching for some fenders for my 67 and a friend told me that gm is now offering fenders for my 67. Has anyone seen or used the fenders from gm? If not who has the best fenders (fit and price)? Thanks

I suspect that info is just a rumor. There are a lot of so-called "GM Restoration" parts out there, made using original GM blueprints/dies/molds, etc. But..... let me tell you from a bit of experience, many aren't of the same caliber or quality. Your best bet is to always buy NOS or good used parts. Buy reproduction as a last resort. That is not to say that some repro stuff isn't as good (or even better sometimes), but until you've been in the game a while, it is a crap shoot.

Having said that, I believe that Goodmark is manufacturing a "GM Restoration" reproduction of the 67 fender. I have not heard much good or bad about these fenders. I know NOS examples are still bringing a high price, even after the Goodmark releases, if that tells you anything. I had a bad experience with their reproduction 67 SS hood. However, I also realize that sometimes you just have to accept what is offered, when given little or no choice and/or your budget is really tight. You'll certainly be able to pick up some Goodmark fenders cheaper than an NOS pair.

Good luck,

Thanks for the reply Phil. On doing further research the fenders were offered on the web site www.gm (http://www.gm) restorationparts.com and seems to be from GM.Also what is the going price for a set of used fenders?

Hmmm......very intersting.

I had heard that the GM parts site was going to start offering restoration parts, but didn't know that they were now in action.

I would be very interested to know exactly where these parts are coming from. I would be surprised to learn that GM (themselves) is actually in the restoration parts mfg. business. My guess is that they are selling (actually reselling) the "GM Restoration" parts that they they sold the molds & prints off for.

I would find it a bit humerous to see GM selling "GM Restoration" 67 Chevelle SS hoods that were made in China with inferior materials. I hope that is not the case.

Anyway, I think that you can get a set of good used fenders for about $100-$200 each.
